Doosan forklift parts

Doosan is the name behind one of the UK’s leading forklift brands. The brand name Doosan was established after the acquisition of Daewoo Heavy Industries in 2005 by Doosan Heavy Industries (DHI). It all began in 1937 with Chosen Machine Works company, established in 1937. Originally specialized in shipbuilding and machinery the company became a major conglomerate in 1976 by absorbing Hankoo Machine Industrial company. This also led to a the name change – Daewoo Heavy Industries Ltd. In Korean Daewoo means “big world” or ‘great universe”.

Daewoo forklifts

Daewoo Heavy Industries began making forklifts in the 1960s. In 1983 Daewoo and Caterpillar came to an historic 10-year agreement for the company to build trucks under the Caterpillar brand. This helped building an reputable brand name. By 1998 Daewoo established a name for product quality.
Introduction to the European market - present

The introduction of the Daewoo forklift on the European market was in 1994. First in the UK. After that in other European countries. In 2005 the Korean Government agreed sale of a controlling share in the forklift manufacturer to Doosan. Today Doosan supplies their forklifts to over 90 countries. All of the European forklifts are made in Korea (counter-balance trucks) or Germany (warehouse range and air cargo).
